Ingredients of Lotus Seeds Halwa
- 1 kilograms lotus seed
- 200 gm sugar
- 400 gm ghee
- 500 ml water
For Garnishing
- 50 gm almonds
- 25 gm pistachios
How to make Lotus Seeds Halwa
Step 1 Make a granular paste from the lotus seedsTo start making this amazing halwa, first, soak the broken lotus seeds into cold water for around 12 hours. After that, from the top, remove the black hard skin and peel the green coloured skin from the seed. Rinse them thoroughly under running water and make a granular paste.
Step 2 Cook the lotus seed paste until pink in colourTake a heavy-bottomed kadhai and heat ghee in it over a low flame. Add the granular paste of lotus seeds to it cook slowly until the paste turns pinkish in colour. Drain the excess ghee from the mixture.
Step 3 Make a sugar syrup to combine with lotus seed paste and cookTake a saucepan and start boiling water into it over a medium flame. Add sugar and let it cook to make a sugar syrup (chashni). Next, combine this sugar syrup with lotus seed paste (Step 1) in the same kadhai and cook the halwa till the mixture thickens and cooked through. Serve hot with resplendently garnished almonds and pistachios.
